From a gathering of local folkies back in 1996, Wintermoon has grown to be an event which offers an exciting variety of music and attracts an audience of all ages and from all walks of life, who gather to share in the joy that Wintermoon brings.
The Festival is held on a beautiful property at Cameron’s Pocket, halfway between Mackay and Proserpine, set against the stunning backdrop of Eungella National Park. It is bordered by picturesque St Helens Creek, which flows all year and provides a great swimming hole for our guests and performers to cool off, if they can tear themselves away from the music and other seductive attractions on offer.
The festival not only boasts some of the best world music performers from Australia, but also showcases some of our local talent on three stages strategically placed at various locations within the grounds. Colourful market stalls, food stalls, kiddies activities, craft and music workshops dot the landscape.
There is a particular focus on family, and we aim to provide an exhilarating musical experience for all ages in a safe and friendly environment.
In the words of Bruce Watson, “Everyone smiles ‘hello’ as you wander around. It’s the friendliest festival I know. You feel like part of a community, not a festival-goer”, and regarding our program, “Wintermoon punches above its weight in terms of the calibre and profile of national acts”.

Lots of interesting and artistic market stalls offer a great range of treasures for visitors to buy with many local artisans displaying their works. And, of course, there’s a delicious selection of international foods available for you to enjoy such as Thai food, Dutch pancakes, German sausages, wood fired pizzas, vegetarian food, alongside all the usual festival foods.
Lots of other live entertainment keeps the crowds jumping throughout the Festival. Each year headline acts are backed up by local talented musicians, as well as fabulous dancing performed by the Nahlah Sahara Dancers, and the fun of the AWSUM Ukelele Club
A great selection of amusement rides also bring a smile to many a face, young and old alike, from mini jeeps, super slides, the Rock Wall and so much more.
Each year held at 7pm on Saturday night, the sky bursts overhead with amazing fireworks, sponsored by Ergon Energy, stunning the audience as they burst spectacularly in a display to rival any seen at other events. As the fireworks die away, the main stage becomes the focus with a great line up of entertainment to get everyone dancing.
Sunday at the festival is family day with lots of activities and fun for the kids to enjoy and more great entertainment on the main stage…

Presented by the Townsville Folk & Acoustic Music Club Inc., we are a community based, not for profit, family friendly, (and above all else, fun) Folk Festival. Our camp/festival site is about half an hour’s drive South of Townsville – nestled at the foot of the mountains, and surrounded by the bush (you may see wallabies outside your tent in the mornings). We would love for you to be a part of the magic.
The Palm Creek Folk Festival is an annual event, held in June each year, in the lush tropical grounds of the Mountain View Lake Eco Park, 40km south of Townsville, North Queensland. The event takes place over four days and three nights involving more than 100 performers and events with music concerts, dances, workshops, acoustic jams, youth festival, art and craft workshops, and special events. The Festival features the cream of local performers and selected national special guests.
Be sure to bring your fancy dress for Sunday night’s Mystery Masquerade.
