Urban is like no other festival experience in the country. With a distinct mix of artists, it is set amongst a picture perfect gathering of food, craft and all things for the ‘musicurious’ festival-goer.
2016 brings the festival back to it’s roots with 100% country music from a stellar line up of Aussie talent. New to the festival this year the ‘Bootscoot ‘n’ BBQ concert kicks the festival off on Friday the 29 April. The opening night concert, headlined by non other than country music icon James Blundell, will this year be accompanied by an array of BBQ based entertainment. A celebration of all things bush and BBQ, your senses will be tantalised with; mouth-watering meals, smoky BBQ aromas, captivating cooking demonstrations, all whilst listening to some of the best country music artists Australia has to offer.
Day two of the festival kicks it up a notch with the opening of the free Urban Village. A hive of activity throughout the weekend the Urban Village brings the best elements of the festival together in one location. The perfect place to meet up with mates, there is a huge variety of free workshops, markets stalls, delicious food and of course, loads of amazing country music across 7 stages.
Once you have finished exploring the Urban Village for the day you can cap the night off with a concert for the ages. Gates open at 2.30pm to the QSEC arena where you will be blown away by the best country music artists in Australia. Headlined by another Aussie icon. Catch the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Harvey, Sara Storer, Chelsea Basham and loads more in a night to remember.
The third and final day of the festival brings even more excitement for festival goers. The Urban Village is once again open to explore all day while you prepare for another evening concert. Turn up the heat at the Urban Blaze, a bonfire celebration to mark the end of another year at Urban. An iconic tradition and festival favorite Urban Blaze is a great way to end a fantastic weekend.
The largest outdoor concert at Urban,the Blaze boasts two massive bonfires that will keep you warm as you enjoy tons of amazing country music as well as the fantastic fireworks display at the end of the night. With just a gold coin donation to enter you would struggle to find a better value concert in the country!
